Case Study 2- Royal Northern College of Music

The North West Corner Development project over seen by Preston Leee Chambers acting as consultants and Allenbuild Ltd principle builders is a typical of the type of services carried out by Alard Electrical Ltd for the RNCM.

The project was carried out to provide Bar, Restaurant, Bistro, Teaching and Conference Facilities and demonstrates Alard Electrical Ltd’s areas of expertise.

The project consisted of stripping out existing cables, fittings, and trunking and distribution infrastructure.

The initial electrical services installation included enabling works for the build to progress and the installation of the mains and sub-mains low voltage power and distribution system.

The main electrical installation consisted of emergency lighting, general lighting, small power, mechanical heating and ventilation system controls, fire alarms, intruder alarms and door and disabled access. The project value was approximately £200,000.00

Alard Electrical Ltd have been carrying out the design aspect of any small works going forward reducing the RNCM ongoing project management and consultancy costs.
As test and inspection specialists Alard Electrical Ltd currently have a rolling contract with the responsibility for maintaining the RNCM electrical distribution compliance with the Periodic Test and Inspection requirements in BS 7571:2008 17TH edition and the Electricity at Work Act 1984.

The addition of TEGG service in 2005 has enabled Alard Electrical Ltd to carry out full energised testing of the low voltage distribution system without disruption or shutting down any of the faculties.

This innovation has made a big impact to our clients as we can now test their critical systems and equipment that had not been tested, such as data centres, fire, CO², smoke alarms and telephone systems, all of which are vital to the functioning of businesses and the general Health and Safety of those people using the facilities.

Alard Electrical Ltd is one of only nine contractors in the UK that can provide TEGG Service demonstrating our awareness of new technology and bringing innovation to our clients reduce their statuary testing costs.

This particular project is the 4th Phase of works undertaken by Alard at the RNCM.
