Alard Electrical Ltd has been a preferred electrical contractor for over 10 years at the University´s Lower Ormond Street facilities and is valued by the University because we know the University campus intimately.

They value the consistency of our site personnel especially in managerial and supervisory roles. We carry out all work unsupervised by University staff and crucially for them, we do not cause any disruption to the day-to-day working of the life of the University.

Alard Electrical Ltd have been responsible for complete design and Installation projects for the University´s engineering department, working closely with their electrical and mechanical engineers and undertaking projects of up to £250,000 on their behalf.

In addition we carry out regular ongoing small works on a case-by-case basis and repair all remedial works uncovered during the planned electrical test and inspection programmes carried out by other contractors. This work varies from simple earthing issues to re-wiring, installation of distribution boards and localised component replacement.

These small works projects are typically between £2,000 and £25,000 and undertaken against a schedule of rates agreed at the start of each year. This fixes prices for the year and enables the University to issue work orders without the need to go out to general tender, improving speed of turn around in delivery and reducing tendering administration time and costs.

This process has been closely monitored and has proven to be more competitive than regularly going out to tender for every small job or project. This cost saving has built trust between Alard and the University as they now have little or no administration costs per job and no longer need to provide supervision. This would not be the case if they used a new contractor fresh to the site and unfamiliar with the University´s policies and procedures.

Working closely with the University, Alard Electrical Ltd also provide the Health and Safety documentation and project management for third parties such as the University´s nominated builder(s) and major national contracting companies for projects of £250,000+ the University appreciate having someone on site, who knows the standards and practices that the University require.
